Compared to a lot of the more popular brands of cargo hiking pants I’ve tried, I like the tactical pants better. For hiking, outdoors, and utility, most pants lack enough pockets, and they look silly. The Columbia Silver Ridge has good pockets, functionality, and light-weight material, but they’re floppy and don’t look nice. The Sierra pants have good functionality and they look really nice!

I’ve tried the following tactical styles, and here are my first impressions:
Tactical Duratex Mag Pocket

Pro: I love all the pockets, and the fact that some of them zip or otherwise close to secure contents. And I like the little metal rings on the front to clip items on. They look pretty cool except for the bellbottom bagginess.
Con: I don’t like that they’re so baggy and especially the bellbottom leg
Con: I don’t like the elastic band waist
Con: The material feels heavier, not as good for travel/hiking/backpacking
Con: The heavier material also seems like it will be hotter and not very quick to dry if it gets wet
Con: When bending and squatting down, the pants pull down and gap open in the back, creating the “plumber reveal.” I think the elastic waistband might be contributing to this. I also think they’ll be constantly sliding down if wearing with a backpack when hiking.
Many people have requested a pair of pants that have a lightweight fabric like the Sierra, a slim fit, a tapered leg, and a waistband like the Sierra (no elastic like the Sierra).
We will also have the fabric you requested.
